Reading a monkey's mind reveals its movement strategies

Rhesus Macaque monkey

Neuroscientists at Washington University in St. Louis say they can read a monkey's mind and see how it plans to approach a task -- even before it has moved a single muscle.

The team took two monkeys -- a hyperactive primate who always jumped the gun, and a more contemplative thinker who investigates a task before making his move. The difference in their behaviour was clearly visible in their decoded brain activity.
