Ring rain on Saturn causes atmospheric changes

Rain falling from Saturn's rings causes big changes in the planet's upper atmosphere.


Charged water particles fall from the planet's ring system into Saturn's ionosphere and can significantly alter the electron densities found there as well as making changes to the temperature structure.
