AWS Batch now supports AWS CloudTrail audit calls to Batch APIs. AWS CloudTrail is a service that enables governance, compliance, operational auditing, and risk auditing of your AWS account. Amazon Rekognition Now Available in AWS US-East (Ohio) Region

Amazon Rekognition is a deep learning-based service that makes it easy to add image and video analysis to your applications. Rekognition Image API allows you to detect objects, scenes, faces and inappropriate content; extract text; recognize celebrities; and search and compare faces, in images. Rekognition Video API for the AWS US-East (Ohio) region allows you to track people; detect objects, scenes, activities and inappropriate content; recognize celebrities; and search faces, in videos stored in Amazon S3.

Amazon CloudFront announces six new Edge Locations that are now part of its global network. These six new Edge Locations are located in the following cities:

Perth, Australia; Chennai, India; Rio De Janeiro, Brazil; Los Angeles, California; and two additional Edge Locations in Tokyo, Japan.

Amazon WorkSpaces Now Supports Configurable Storage and Switching Between Hardware Bundles

Today, Amazon WorkSpaces is making two new features available. First, you can now configure how much storage your WorkSpaces get when you launch them, and increase the storage for a running WorkSpace at any time. Second, you can now change the hardware bundle that your WorkSpace is running on with a simple reboot. All of your applications, data, and storage stay the same, but now you can move to a more powerful bundle to support resource-intensive applications, or move to a less powerful bundle to save costs. With these features, Amazon WorkSpaces now provides additional flexibility to support the diverse needs of end users, while still helping you optimize your costs.

You can now use Apache Spark 2.2.1, Apache Hive 2.3.2, and Amazon SageMaker integration with Apache Spark on Amazon EMR release 5.11.0. Spark 2.2.1 and Hive 2.3.2 include various bug fixes and improvements. Amazon SageMaker Spark is an open-source Spark library for Amazon SageMaker, a fully-managed service which can build, train, and deploy machine learning models at scale. It enables you to interleave Spark stages and stages that interact with Amazon SageMaker in your Spark ML Pipelines, allowing you to train models using Spark DataFrames in Amazon SageMaker with Amazon-provided ML algorithms like K-Means clustering or XGBoost.

AWS Direct Connect added two new locations in Minneapolis, MN and Bangalore, India

Today AWS Direct Connect has landed sites in two new cities – Minneapolis, MN and Bangalore, India. With global access enabled for AWS Direct Connect, these sites can reach AWS resources in any global AWS region. In the US, Cologix MIN3, Minneapolis brings the total AWS Direct Connect sites in the country to 30. In the AWS Management Console, Minneapolis will be found under its home region of US East (Ohio). In India, NetMagic DC2, Bangalore, is the third city for AWS Direct Connect after Mumbai and Chennai, and will be found in the console under Asia Pacific (Mumbai) region.

Lambda@Edge now Allows you to Customize Error responses From Your Origin

Starting today, Lambda@Edge enables you to customize error responses from your origin, by allowing you to execute Lambda functions in response to HTTP errors that Amazon CloudFront receives from your origin. This means Lambda@Edge functions associated with Amazon CloudFront origin response event will now be invoked for 4XX and 5XX error status codes, in addition to the currently supported 2XX (success) and 3XX (redirection) status codes.

Amazon Kinesis Data Analytics can now Output Real-Time SQL Results to AWS Lambda

You can now configure your Amazon Kinesis Data Analytics applications to send real-time analytics to AWS Lambda. Based on the processed data from Kinesis Data Analytics, your AWS Lambda functions can take actions such as update an Amazon DynamoDB or Amazon Aurora database, send real-time alerts using Amazon SNS or Amazon SQS, or invoke your own custom API.
