Today, we updated policy summaries to help you identify and correct errors in your IAM policies. When you set permissions using policies, for each action you specify, you must match that action to supported resources or conditions. Now, you will see a warning if these policy elements (actions, resources, and conditions) defined in an IAM policy do not match. With this update, policy summaries make it easy to detect if a policy includes an action that does not support the resource or condition specified.

Starting today, you can send events recorded in Amazon Aurora audit logs to CloudWatch Logs. Audit logs include events such as database logins, user information, details of queries executed, and impacted tables. With these events tracked in CloudWatch Logs, you can create CloudWatch Metrics and Alarms to continuously monitor activity in your Aurora database. For example, you can define metrics for DML (Data Manipulation Language) queries performed on critical tables, and set up alarms. These alarms can alert you whenever undesired changes are made to your tables. Additionally, you can create graphs and dashboards with CloudWatch to visualize activity in your database, detect patterns, and identify issues at a glance.

You can now create a view that spans Amazon Redshift and Redshift Spectrum external tables. With late-binding views, table binding will take place at runtime, providing your users and applications with seamless access to query data. Late-binding views allows you to drop and make changes to referenced tables without affecting the views. With this feature, you can query frequently accessed data in your Amazon Redshift cluster and less-frequently accessed data in Amazon S3, using a single view. Simply archive historical data to Amazon S3, create an external table referencing the relevant files, and then create a view referencing both the Amazon Redshift and the Redshift Spectrum external tables.

The test console dynamically displays information related to dialog state as you interact with your bot. In the “Summary” view, you can review the slot values for the intent being fulfilled. This allows you to keep track of the conversation flow. In the “Detail” view, you can review the parsed response from the chatbot. The response detail gives you deeper visibility into the bot interaction and the current state of the dialog as you troubleshoot and debug your chatbot.

Amazon EC2 Container Service (Amazon ECS) now supports the Network Load Balancer for load balancing TCP traffic to container tasks and services.
You can now use the new dynamic range compression (DRC) tag to enhance the volume of certain sounds in your audio file. The sounds in an audio file range from softer sounds to louder, depending on the text, the language, and the voice. For example, conflicting ambient sounds such as those of a moving vehicle can often mask the softer sounds, making the audio track difficult to hear clearly. To enhance the clarity of the Text-to-Speech output, simply use the SSML tag “DRC” to mark the text input. This is especially suitable for audio to be used in noisy environments. DRC is a boolean parameter (meaning that it's either on or off) that can be used with any Amazon Polly supported voice or language. It can be used for an entire section of text, or only for a few words, based on your needs.

We are pleased to announce the launch of a new Network Load Balancer for the Elastic Load Balancing service designed to handle millions of requests per second while maintaining ultra-low latencies. This new load balancer is optimized to handle volatile traffic patterns while using a single static IP address per Availability Zone. Network Load Balancer operates at the connection level (Layer 4), routing connections to Amazon EC2 instances and containers within Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC) based on IP protocol data. It also preserves the client side source IP, allowing applications to see the IP address of the client that can then be used by applications for further processing.
AWS has expanded its HIPAA Compliance Program to include AWS Batch. OAuth 2.0 allows users to access content and feedback on Amazon WorkDocs through third-party applications. Using the Amazon WorkDocs API, these applications can programmatically manage user content, feedback, metadata, labels, permission, activity tracking, and notifications at a user level. You can easily build or integrate security, enterprise content management systems, productivity, project management, and other applications with Amazon WorkDocs.
Today, Amazon AppStream 2.0 is introducing a new GPU instance type, called Graphics Design. This new Graphics Design instance type allows you to run graphics applications at a fraction of the cost of using graphics workstations, and reduces the cost of streaming graphics applications with AppStream 2.0 by up to 50%. Graphics Design instances are ideal for delivering applications that rely on hardware acceleration of DirectX, OpenGL, or OpenCL, such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Autodesk Revit, and Siemens NX. With this launch, AppStream 2.0 now offers three graphics instance types – Graphics Design, Graphics Desktop, and Graphics Pro – optimized to support a broad selection of graphics workloads.

Amazon WorkSpaces users can now use Amazon WorkDocs Drive, a new way to access your files. With Amazon WorkDocs Drive, all of your Amazon WorkDocs files are streamed to your WorkSpace desktop on demand. You can easily access any file on Amazon WorkDocs through Windows File Explorer without needing to keep a local copy.
Amazon EC2 instances now provide a maximum bandwidth of 25 Gbps. This feature is available on the largest instance sizes of the M4, X1, P2, R4, I3, F1, and G3 instance types. Using Elastic Network Adapter (ENA) based Enhanced Networking, customers can utilize up to 25 Gbps of bandwidth. All of these instances, including those already running, can take advantage of the additional network bandwidth without any additional steps.
Since we made Amazon EC2 F1 instances generally available earlier this year, we have seen exciting adoption by customers, partners and the developer and research community. Customers are using F1 for accelerating a diverse set of applications such as genomic processing, data analytics, security, image and video processing and machine learning. You can now migrate encrypted databases from Amazon RDS for MySQL to Amazon Aurora. Previously, only unencrypted databases were supported. Migration can be done either by restoring an RDS MySQL snapshot to Aurora, or by creating an Aurora Read Replica, which has the advantage of automating the copying and replication and minimizing downtime.
Amazon WorkSpaces is now available in the EU (London) region, increasing the number of AWS Regions WorkSpaces is available to eight. We are pleased to announce that Application Load Balancers can now distribute traffic to AWS resources using their IP addresses as targets in addition to the instance IDs. You can also load balance to resources outside the VPC hosting the load balancer using their IP addresses as targets. This includes resources in peered VPCs, EC2-Classic, and on-premises locations reachable over AWS Direct Connect or a VPN connection. Load balancing across AWS and on-premises resources using the same load balancer makes it easy for you to migrate-to-cloud, burst-to-cloud, or failover-to-cloud.
