How do you make a 300 horsepower racing car go at 320 kph? British car designer Ben Bowlby briefly answered that with the experimental DeltaWing racing car, which competed at the "24 Hours of Le Mans" endurance race until it was cruelly denied a race finish -- not from mechanical failure, but due to a race incident.
The 24 Hours of Le Mans race challenges teams to build cars that are capable of sustained, high-performance racing, but for the Highcroft Racing Nissan-powered DeltaWing, the challenge was more about proving a design concept to a sceptical motor-racing world.
