The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has been trying to patent a satellite navigation signal that will allow people to use both GPS and the EU's Galileo system -- but apparently they didn't ask if everyone else was OK with that.
Now the US government is worried that it will have to start paying more to use systems it thought were effectively open for all, even though it part-funded their development in the first place.
