London survived the Olympics unscathed, and its transport network in particular was widely praised for not collapsing under the weight of all those new visitors. But how?
Jon Reades of the Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis (CASA) has been analysing the huge piles of data compiled from Transport for London's (TFL) ticketing systems over the course of the London Olympic and Paralympic Games. Even though it's only just the beginning, there are some surprising results -- it appears that the school holidays led to a bigger drop in bus usage than any of the official warnings.
