Geologists have unearthed evidence that a tsunami hit the area which is now Geneva, Switzerland in 563 AD -- a discovery which suggests the region may still be vulnerable to destructive waves.
Historical accounts of the tsunami were already known but analysis of Lake Geneva's sediment using seismic reflection has provided the first geological evidence of the event in the form of a "very strange and different layer".
