Norway doubles oil industry carbon tax

The carbon tax that Norway levies on its North Sea oil industry will be doubled under government proposals to create a fund to help developing countries cope with climate change.


The Scandinavian country, which is the 13th-largest oil producer in the world, plans to raise its carbon tax on offshore oil companies from £24 per tonne of CO2 to £45, and will also impose a £5.50 per tonne CO2 tax on its fishing industry.
