Eight unscientific ways to predict the next US president

Predicting the election

Keeping up with the presidential polls leading up to Election Day has been daunting, even for the biggest of numbers geeks. A nonstop onslaught of figures have predicted which candidate has the edge among various groups of voters.


Luckily, there are far more fun -- if unscientific -- ways of trying to predict who will be headed to the White House. Convenience store chain 7-Eleven has its annual "7-Election" poll (if you can call it that), which predicts the winner of the election based this year on who picks Barack Obama or Mitt Romney coffee cups. (As of this writing, Obama was beating Romney by 18 percentage points in that contest.)
