Wave Glider robot survives Sandy

Wave Glider

One of the floating autonomous data-drones that monitors sea surface conditions around the world managed to ride out the remains of Hurricane Sandy without damage.


Mercury, as the robot is known, survived winds of 128 km/hour and a 54.3 hectopascal drop in atmospheric pressure to send back data to its handlers over in California - a company called Liquid Robotics.
