Osborne to announce fracking tax breaks

Days after refusing to commit to a target for reduction of carbon emissions, chancellor George Osborne is expected to announce tax breaks for shale gas companies

According to a report in the Independent, Osborne is expected to use his Autumn Statement to announce that companies carrying out hydraulic fracturing, otherwise known as fracking, will be given tax breaks to encourage investors and help economic growth.
