Amazon to offer free digital copies of purchased CDs

Web retail giant Amazon will offer people purchasing CDs a free digital copy of the album as part of a programme called AutoRip.

AutoRip, which for the time being is only available in the US due to the difficulties of global licensing agreements, will automatically keep a digital copy of CDs purchased since 1998 in a cloud storage account.
