Microsoft sets final closure date for Windows Messenger

Windows Live Messenger will finally be put out to pasture on 15 March, Microsoft has said in an email to Messenger users, after which time its users will need to switch to Skype.


The company has been threatening the once-dominant messaging platform with closure since November 2012, as a result of its desire to move its users to Skype. Microsoft acquired Skype in October 2011.
