Kim Jong-Un has a smartphone -- you might struggle to make it out in the poor quality picture, above, released by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) -- and the South Korean media is all in a tiz wondering which model it is.
It might not seem to the most remarkable of news, and indeed when the picture was released on 27 January to accompany an otherwise dry report about a meeting at an undisclosed location somewhere in the Hermit Kingdom there wasn't much notice paid at first either. But, AFPreports, when the South Korean media picked up on it the discussion quickly became one of frenzied speculation. Could he, they wondered, be using a Samsung smartphone? If he is, it's a pretty careless way of de facto accepting that the South is more technologically advanced than the North.
