Cod stocks begin slow recovery

Tough regulations imposed after years of overfishing mean that cod stocks in the North Sea are beginning to recover, according to a survey by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC).


For some time, most cod populations have been dangerously low after being overfished for decades. Many came close to extinction. However, effective management strategies imposed to protect the remaining fish have yielded a glimmer of hope - cod may once again return to the menu.
