Xbox One launch titles unveiled: New Halo, Minecraft, Dead Rising 3 and more

It's time for the games. Microsoft has promised its 10 June event, on a sunday morning in Los Angeles, is all about software for the Xbox One.

Except for one thing: a brand new Xbox 360 console, which is slimmer than the current model and goes on sale today. The unanticipated announcement sends a clear message to gamers: the 360 is going nowhere. And in fact, Microsoft also confirmed "hundreds" of games are still set for release for the 360.

Xbox Live Gold subscribers will also soon get free games dropping into their account, as Microsoft announced plans to better compete with Sony's PlayStation Plus offering, giving gamers bonus downloads as part of their membership between July and December 2013. Expect older titles though: that Microsoft chose Halo 3 and Assassin's Creed II as the headline offerings at E3 2013 suggests this is going to appeal to back-catalogue lovers mostly. Microsoft is also getting rid of Microsoft Points in favour of paying with local currencies. About time.

And so onto Xbox One games...
