Study: echolocation maps of bat calls used to improve conservation

Habitat-suitability maps created from the echolocation calls of bats can be used to improve conservation, according to a study published by the University of Leeds in the Journal of Applied Ecology.

The maps were created from the calls of 15,000 bats recorded over the course of 120 walks in the Lake District, and are the most detailed large-scale habitat suitability maps ever created for bats in the UK.
