Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL now supports major version PostgreSQL 9.4.1. PostgreSQL 9.4.1 includes support for the JSONB datatype, which allows you to manage schemas more flexibly. JSONB items are stored in a decomposed binary format that speeds query operations. You can launch a new Amazon RDS database instance running PostgreSQL 9.4.1 with just a few clicks in the AWS Management Console. Learn more about what’s new in PostgreSQL 9.4.
