Amazon RDS MySQL now supports MySQL 5.5 on M4, R3, and T2 instances

Starting today, Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) allows you to run either MySQL 5.5 or MySQL 5.6 on supported instances. For MySQL 5.5, this now includes standard (M4), memory-optimized (R3), and burst-capable (T2) instances. For more information on the instances available through Amazon RDS, please visit the Instance Classes page.
