Superhydrophobic robot can jump on the surface of water

Roboticists from China's Harbin Institute of Technology have built a bio-inspired robot that can leap on the surface of water without sinking -- just like a water strider bug.


"Bionic microrobots mimicking the horizontal skating motions of aquatic insects have been fabricated in the past years," explains Qinmin Pan and colleagues in the paper's abstract.
