Amazon ElastiCache Now Supports T2 Cache Nodes

You can now use T2 cache nodes with Amazon ElastiCache for both Memcached and Redis engines. T2 cache nodes are a new low-cost cache node family that is ideal for test and development environments, as well as small workloads. They are up to 70% cheaper per-GB than comparable T1/M1 cache nodes. Customers eligible for the AWS Free Usage tier can start for free and use up to 750 hours per month of a t2.micro cache node for a year.

Pricing for T2 cache nodes starts at $0.008/hour (effective price) for 3 year Heavy Utilization Reserved Instance and $0.017/hour for On-Demand usage. These pricing examples are for the US East (N. Virginia) AWS Region. For more information on pricing, visit the Amazon ElastiCache pricing page.
